Personal Injury and Death
The law is meant to protect human beings from unnecessary danger. The law does this by placing legal responsibilities on corporations and individuals to act safely. We bring lawsuits against corporations and insurance companies when they chose to violate their legal responsibilities and someone is seriously injured or killed. Here are categories of cases that might describe what happened to you or a loved one.
- Car crash
- Trucking crash
- Being hit by a vehicle when you were walking
- Being hit by a vehicle when you were on a bike
- Motorcycle wreck
- Passenger in a vehicle injured
- Fall at a nursing home
- Not receiving necessary nutrition at nursing home/li>

If you don’t see your exact circumstances in the list, don’t worry. Please call our office and we can tell you if your case is something that we are willing to handle. At the very minimum, we will do our best to point you in the right direction in your search for the right lawyer for you.
Workers’ Compensation Laws
If a worker sustains an injury on the job, then a company is required to pay medical benefits, temporary disability benefits, and permanent disability benefits. A company is not legally permitted to retaliate against a worker for seeking these benefits.
Many times the company delays or denies medical benefits. This could be delaying or denying an MRI that was recommended by a physician, denying a surgery that was recommended by a surgeon, or simply failing to pay a medical bill, hospital bill, or even medical mileage.
Many times the company delays or denies temporary disability benefits. This could be failing to pay for “off time” while the worker is recuperating from a work injury or failing to pay the usual and customary wages while a worker is on light duty from a work injury.
Many times, the company will provide a “low ball” offer for permanent disability benefits, simply to take advantage of an injured worker. Many times, the company will not fully explain what the offer entails, such as closing the right to future medical care and the right to reopen the case at a further date.
Navigating this system can be difficult and determining whether to hire an attorney is a big decision. The Bribriesco Law Firm are specialists in this area of the law and we provide free consultations for workers’ compensation cases to ensure the company is fulfilling its obligation.
The Bribriesco Law Firm can also help explain how these benefits intersect with unemployment law, civil rights laws, social security disability, and third-party accidents (such as a car crash or injury involving a wrongful death).
SPECIAL NOTE: if your injury occurred after July 1, 2017, there maybe substantial differences in how the law impacts your Iowa workers’ compensation case and many of those differences are still being litigated by the courts. The Bribriesco Law Firm strongly encourages a consultation for these post-July 1, 2017 cases.
SPECIAL NOTE: if you believe you contracted COVID-19 from work and you have medical bills, time off, and/or permanent effects from your work-related COVID-19 exposure, call for a consultation as you maybe entitled to a remedy.
- Do I have to go the insurance company’s doctors or can I go to my own doctor?

- I am off work because of my injury – should I be receiving work comp.?
- I have a meeting with human resources – can I be fired for having a work injury?
- My company fired me and I have work restrictions – can I apply for unemployment?
- Does my immigration status matter?
- Do I need to prove that the company did something wrong?
- Am I being paid the correct amount for each weekly check?
Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect
We have to put our trust in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and other long-term care facilities because at some point, we may not be able to safely provide the care and services that our loved ones need.
These facilities promise to provide the individual care that our loved ones need. For example, skilled nursing facilities promise to create a specific care plan that is supposed to nourish the mind, body, and soul. Skilled nursing facilities promise that they have an adequate number of staff who have the education, training, and experience to actually provide the individual care that is needed. Skilled nursing facilities promise to tell you and the doctors that something might be wrong with you loved one.
If these facilities break their promises to you and your loved ones, then the law allows you to hold them accountable with a lawsuit. In our experience, lawsuits can have a positive impact on increasing the level of safety in our community. Lawsuits may change corporate conduct because lawsuits take away the one thing that matters to corporations.
If you believe that a loved one may have been abused or neglected, please call our office to schedule a free consultation.
